Alaska – some detailed research this week

This week is dedicated to some detailed research for my trip, as husband and daughter have gone on their camping trip to British Columbia for the next 10 days; perfect opportunity to do plenty of reading, highlighting and note taking for me!

So far today I have researched my first 3 days on the road and it looks like I will be going past/over some interestingly named creeks: Chickadee Creek, Rainbow Creek, Two Creeks, Grave Creek, Woodpecker Creek, Tupper Creek, and Tate Creek, to name but a few.

I will also pass through the towns of Beaverlodge (complete with a Giant Beaver Statue), Wembley (no football/soccer stadium in sight here) and Little Smokey (population 34).

Let the research week begin!

Oh, and something for you all to look forward too: the town of Chicken will be featured on my route home!

  1. I have found a book called the ‘Milepost’ to be the ultimate resource for travel in Alaska and Canada. It lists what there is to see and do on every mile of every road.
