This is the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse in Ucluelet on Vancouver Island. A lighthouse has stood here since 1906, when the first one was put up in response to the shipwreck of the Pass of Melfort. The original lighthouse was replaced 9 years later with the building that still stands today in order to better withstand hurricane force storms that come in over the Barkely Sound and the archipelago of the Broken Group Islands.
There is something really wild and invigorating about this coastline that really resounded with me. It was a struggle to leave and get onto that ferry back to the mainland. I guess it’s time to plan another trip to the island!
