When we visited Germany in October last year we took a day trip to the Wisentgehege in Springe. It’s over 90 hectars of medows and ancient forest with over 100 animal species, some of which are endangered. It’s a fabulous place and the ancient forest that you walk through includes a section with various different deer species that, if they wanted to, would be able to come right up to you.
One of the first animals you come across are the Eurasian Lynx, which are sometimes hard to spot (as they can be shy), but thankfully, they were rather social when we visited.
Came across these hare tracks in the woods the other weekend (looks like they were running late….).

Just having some fun creating this scene…
The bridge with the forest behind it
To get to Tonquin Beach in Tofino you have to first find the little path that leads down to this bridge, but before the bridge is a number of sets of stairs (not so bad down, but they certainly get your heart pumping on the way back) and at various points you have little landing platforms to take in the view of the ancient forest around you.

We came across this perfect little mushroom in the mountains yesterday; don’t misunderstand, there were tons of them all along the path, but this one was just perfect in every way. I have no idea what kind it is, but I secretly hope that, if eaten, it would turn the person very small (I know, wishful thinking, right?).
