As the snow is very slowly melting I find myself drawn to this photo from last years trip to the Dominican Republic. The sunsets on the Bavaro Beach are just stunning and we were treated to quite a few during our week there.

It’s been a while since I last posted, which is mainly due to considering if I should continue with my blog.
Is blogging really still relevant in this day of social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, where posts swish by, constantly vying for likes and comments? I have asked myself this question for some time and I am sure I am not the only blogger to do so. My blog is only small and has just over 320 followers, most of which don’t engage at all, and I suspect the majority of them no longer use this platform. That being said, people do still read blogs, otherwise platforms like this would no longer exist. I don’t like to bow to defeat, so have decided to continue this blog. I might change things around a bit in the next little while to freshen things up, but I do like sharing my photos and creations even if only a small number of people read the posts and engage with me (I am not going to let that defeat me!).
So, here is a beautiful sunrise my husband and I got up early to see on our recent vacation to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
This is the Upper Kananaskis Lake in winter (see this previous post for a summer version). As you can see, covered in plenty of snow and deep ice underneath this makes for a pretty spectacular place even in the cold. There were a number of people snowshoe walking and skiing on it when we visited.
I think my guardian angel will have had a few heart attack moments over the past year and no doubt some “she cannot be serious” moments! Here is hoping I can give him/her a bit of a break this year.
Not sure I am entirely happy with this, I can’t put my finger on what it is, perhaps it is too busy or too “artificial” looking? In any case, if I carry on working on it, I will probably just make it worse. Happy to hear what you think about this one.
My daughter kindly agreed to model for me for this creation.
Last weekend my husband and I got up before dawn to try and see the alignment of planets, which is currently best visible just before dawn. Armed with coffee, binoculars, my camera, a blanket, and wrapped up warm we made our way to our chosen spot. We decided that the best place to view the planets was higher up with an uninterrupted view of the horizon, which just happens to be in the middle of our off-leash dog park. As we had left our dogs at home I dread to think what the couple of early dog walkers must have made of us. After all that though we never did get to see the planets, as a large Chinook arch had swept in and robbed us of a clear view. However, there was a silver lining (pardon the pun) to all this; I ended up with some nice sunrise photos.
